Every Element Working Together

The finished design brings the entire backyard into view. The pool, lanai, expanded paver terrace, and landscaped garden now feel like one unified outdoor environment instead of separate spaces.

Although the new lanai is smaller than the previous addition, it accomplishes far more. It provides comfortable outdoor living while opening views across the entire backyard and making every part of the property feel connected.

That’s one of the most rewarding parts of residential architecture—creating spaces that simply feel right.

A Room That Connects You to the Outdoors

One of the goals of this project was to strengthen the connection between the home and the backyard.

Large sliding glass doors open directly onto the new lanai, creating an inviting transition between indoor and outdoor living. Whether enjoying a morning coffee, sharing a meal, or simply relaxing beneath the ceiling fan, the homeowners now have a comfortable place to enjoy their backyard throughout the year.

Good design encourages you to spend more time in the spaces you love.

A Backyard Designed to Be Enjoyed

This Belleair, Florida home already had a swimming pool, but the backyard didn’t feel connected. An older enclosed addition blocked views of the pool and divided the outdoor space into two separate areas.

By replacing it with a carefully proportioned lanai, we restored the visual connection between the house, the pool, and the landscape beyond. Extending the paver deck further enhanced the sense of openness, creating one cohesive outdoor living space.

Sometimes, thoughtful design isn’t about adding more—it’s about creating better connections.

Throwback Thursday!

At the end of the day, happy clients are the greatest reward of being an architect.

Architecture is a collaborative process built on trust, communication, and shared goals. The best projects happen when homeowners and their architect work together to create a home that truly reflects the way they want to live.

This photo brings back great memories.
