Have you ever come across an old piece of furniture that you couldn’t pass up?!
This chair & ottoman caught my eye at a local antique market years ago, not because of the bright red paisley fabric (I’m not a fan), but because of the shape and style of the piece! It’s a chair and a half and structurally in fantastic condition!
It had everything going for it except how it had be finished (the upholstery and the paint). So of course I brought it home where it proceeded to live in my garage until I finally made time to tackle the project!
I started by tearing off all the fabric (and saved every piece to use as a template), stripped the three layers of paint off the wood and then stained it a rich brown hickory color before completely reupholstering it in this beautiful plush green velvet from !!
Oh, and I just had to make a ruffled lumbar pillow for the finishing touch!
And while removing all the layers of paint was a way more complicated process that I had anticipated, oh my goodness am I glad I didn’t throw in the towel because Im absolutely in love with the outcome!!!
For all the details head to the blog and to see the videos of the entire project unfold be sure to check out my YouTube channel (part 1 & 2)
