In your opinion, where does micro surfacing deliver the highest value? This surface preservation treatment has been used in the U.S. since the ’80s, and when used correctly, we've seen it restore surfaces to preserve asphalt pavement for 6-10 years. What's your experience?

The road looks great. So why treat it?

For County Engineer Tom Klasner, the decision ultimately comes down to making the most of limited transportation $$. This early application of AMIGUARD™ Rapid Penetrating Emulsion Rejuvenator (RPE-R) preserves the pavement.

"Anything that you do with pavement preservation is going to buy you more life," he says. “If I can prolong pavement life for another 5–10 years, then I've pushed those costs farther down the road and I can use that money for another project that may be beneficial to the county."

The 2026 Food Drive has begun!
Donation stations are set up with our fellow contractors, vendors and local unions. (See the full list in our previous 2 posts).

We'll see which group can raise the most food on Weigh Day this Friday (Evergreen Roadworks 1414 West Anthony Drive 11 am - 1 pm). If you want your donation to count toward your team in the competition, please drop it off at your group's location.

Last year, more than 10,000 pounds of food were collected, with the support of employees and community partners, for Eastern Illinois Foodbank. On October 12th, our annual food drive begins again!

We're inviting employees, labor organizations, contractors, trucking companies, vendors and community partners to help address food insecurity throughout Central Illinois.

Join us on the 16th for our Weigh Day celebration to weigh and collect deliveries for the foodbank. This year, on Friday only, we are also accepting perishable food donations in partnership with Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.

Airports need to have the highest performing pavement out there. So when materials and techniques are used for airfields, the pavement industry pays attention.

It's exciting that the Airport Asphalt Pavement Technology Program (AAPTP) with National Asphalt Pavement Association and the Federal Aviation Administration are evaluating VRAM and RPE as innovations to advance airfield pavement performance.

The goal for airfield managers is the same as road network managers: find the most efficient way to get maximum durability from longitudinal paving joints.
