Foggy Sunday morning musings. Having planted for 25+ years amongst the nursery operation, the gardens and soul seem to intertwine. It's an experience that transforms a person, a connection with the natural world that occurs deep inside the body, hard to explain. What we've observed over time is an increase in species and sheer volume of wildlife appearing in our gardens, especially birds as they are most easily observed with their colors, song and dashing movements. There are few experiences in life where you can put forth a small effort (planting and nurturing) and have the benefits increase many fold as the years turn over. The act of planting is like a co-creation with the universe, like dropping a stone in water and seeing the impact ripple out in all directions. In our residential landscape installations, we see the importance of connected yards, when neighbors start to see the uptick in wildlife and you gift them plants, then the dynamics shift, you get flyways and byways and it becomes increasingly complex.
Think of a still lake surface with multiple stones dropped, each creating ripples which then crash into each other creating more and more surface areas for life, more dynamic zones for specialized creatures to exist. This is what happens over time in our gardens. We want to encourage you to keep planting for the future of all our species and may you have foggy mornings to observe and delight in it!
