Our country is spending about $1 trillion on national defense in 2026, and the Trump administration has proposed $1.5 trillion for 2027.

So, why is making sure children have enough to eat treated like asking for too much? Why is using our tax dollars to help American families afford food and healthcare dismissed as “socialism”?
I would much rather see our tax dollars feeding kids, helping families put food on the table, and making healthcare affordable than funding more weapons and wars.
No child should go hungry in a country with THIS KIND OF MILITARY BUDGET:
🇺🇸 Military spending: About $917 billion in 2026. That’s roughly $2.5 BILLION a day.
💣 War with Iran: An estimated $43.6 billion in costs as of September 3, 2026.
🇮🇱 Military aid to Israel: $3.8 billion a year under the existing aid agreement.
🇺🇦 Aid to Ukraine: About $6.7 billion in 2025, according to the estimate cited.
💰 Taxpayer household share of military spending: About $4,049 per household in 2025, according to the Institute for Policy Studies. This estimate excludes the war with Iran.
I’m not saying we don’t need a military. I’m asking why feeding children and helping families afford healthcare are treated like unreasonable demands when we can spend hundreds of billions on defense and war.
