Quiet stone, in motion.

The full video of the soft white waterfall counter we fabricated and installed for this Waterbury-area kitchen. In a room with this much color the stone's job is to stay calm, and the mitered corner is where the care shows.

Middlebury and Watertown neighbors, ask us about slab options for your own kitchen.

From measurement to a finished waterfall edge: this is the part nobody photographs.

The counters in this Waterbury-area kitchen went from templated cabinets to a fully fabricated, installed, and mitered waterfall island. We handled the stone from start to finish, and the cabinetry was already in place.

Middlebury and Watertown neighbors, ask us what that timeline looks like for your kitchen.

A pantry wall, start to finish.

The full video of the floor-to-ceiling pantry wall in this Waterbury kitchen: tall storage on both sides of a lit appliance counter, then the cook zone, then the bar counter that keeps the morning rush off the island.

Cheshire and Plymouth neighbors, which zone would you use most?

Here's the same kitchen at night.

Lit glass-front uppers, LED lines under the island and along the toe kicks, and under-cabinet lighting on every counter. This Waterbury kitchen was planned so the floor and counters glow after dark instead of going flat.

Cheshire and Plymouth neighbors: if your kitchen only has one ceiling light, that's the first thing we'd change.

Natural stone, up close.

Watch the gold, green and gray movement in the granite we fabricated and installed for this Waterbury-area kitchen: the island, the perimeter and a separate pantry counter, all from the same material. Still mid-install, ladder and all.

Want new counters without replacing your cabinets? That's work we do every week.

A slab this size doesn't leave room for a second try.

We fabricated and installed every counter in this Waterbury-area kitchen, and that work is backed by our workmanship warranty. Natural stone doesn't forgive a bad template or a rushed seam, so we don't rush either one.

Naugatuck and Prospect neighbors: planning a countertop swap, with or without new cabinets? We are here to help.

Take the full walk through this one.

Here's the video of the navy-island kitchen we shared on Monday: from the family room, past the white waterfall island, to the double wall ovens. We built it to be seen from the sofa, not just from the sink.

Wolcott, Watertown and Middlebury neighbors, this is the kind of open plan we love building.

Brass on navy, and nowhere near subtle.

This kitchen near Waterbury runs long brass bar pulls across the navy island and the tall navy wall around the fridge, then repeats the same warm metal in the two pendants overhead. It's one finish, used three times, and it's why a dark cabinet color still feels warm at night.

Wolcott and Watertown neighbors, this is one worth seeing in person.

Most people watching this will look at the island. Look up instead.

The strip of light running along the top of those wall cabinets is the reason a wall of tall, flat-front cabinetry like this doesn't feel heavy. It washes the ceiling, so the cabinets read as part of the architecture rather than a big box hanging over the counter.

It's one of three lighting layers in a kitchen like this, and each has its own job: the cove light up top for the room, a strip under the wall cabinets for the counter where you actually prep, and downlights over the island for the work surface.

Here's the catch, and it's why it's worth raising early: the first two have to be designed into the cabinets themselves. Where the strip sits, where the driver hides, how the wire gets there - that's decided on the cabinet drawing, not after install. Added later, it usually means visible cords, stick-on strips, and a line of light that stops short of the corners.

So if you're planning a kitchen around Naugatuck, Thomaston or Watertown, put lighting on the list before the layout is signed off, not after.
