💦 MASSIVE POOL LEAK FOUND IN WEST PALM BEACH!

This swimming pool was losing an enormous amount of water, dropping nearly halfway down!

During this inspection, I used professional hydrophone equipment, dye testing, plumbing pressure testing, and scuba diving to locate the problem.

The culprit? A cracked pool light housing!

The skimmer, vacuum, pool drain, and spa drain plumbing all held pressure. Unfortunately, several return fittings had been plastered into place, preventing those lines from being pressure tested.

I applied a temporary underwater repair to the damaged light housing, but a permanent solution may require replacing the light niche.

At Precision Leak Detection, I specialize in locating swimming pool leaks and helping homeowners understand exactly what's going on with their pools.

🚨 THIS POOL STARTED LEAKING AFTER AN ACID WASH! 💦

Did the acid wash cause the leak? 🤔

I recently performed a leak detection on a beautiful pool and spa on Palm Beach Island after it began losing water following an acid wash.

After inspecting the pool, dye testing, and pressure testing the plumbing, I discovered a hidden leak around a small LED pool light!

🎥 Watch the full video to see how I found the leak and learn some professional pool leak detection tips along the way!

💬 Do you think the acid wash damaged the light gasket?

This Delray Beach swimming pool was losing approximately three inches of water every day.

Surface dye testing showed significant water movement at a deep-end return jet. When we listened with a hydrophone, we detected considerable noise in that same area.

Further inspection revealed a cracked PVC return line approximately six inches inside the pool wall. We inserted a testing plug beyond the damaged section and confirmed that the remaining return plumbing held pressure.

The skimmer, main drain, pool structure, light, and remaining plumbing were all fine. This hidden break behind the return jet was the pool’s only confirmed leak.

Every plumbing line we tested passed… but this pool was still losing a lot of water. 💧

This pool and spa in Lake Worth, Florida had unexplained water loss, so we went through our complete leak-detection process:

✅ Hydrophone listening
✅ Fluorescent dye testing
✅ Plumbing pressure testing
✅ Scuba-assisted underwater inspection

The skimmer, pool jets, wall vacuum, main drain, spa jets, and spa drain all held pressure.

So where was the water going?

Once we dove the pool and inspected the swimming pool light, we found it.

🔍 The pool-light conduit was actively leaking.

An older butyl-tape seal inside the light conduit had failed, allowing water to escape through the conduit. We removed the deteriorated material and installed a new temporary seal.

This is exactly why a complete leak detection matters.

A pool can have perfectly good plumbing and still be losing a significant amount of water somewhere else.

If your pool is losing water, don’t guess at the repair. Find out what is actually leaking first.

Another 5-star review for Precision Leak Detection ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This customer’s pool was losing water, and the biggest concern was whether there might be a major underground plumbing problem.

After going through our complete leak-detection process — hydrophone listening, fluorescent dye testing, pressure testing, and a full underwater inspection — every pressure test passed.

The actual problem was a leaking pool light conduit, not a broken underground plumbing line.

That’s exactly why proper testing matters.

Our goal is to give homeowners a clear, honest diagnosis so they know what is actually wrong with their pool before spending money on repairs.

We’re incredibly grateful for reviews like this:

“No invented problems, no scare tactics, no upselling me a $10,000 underground repair I didn’t need.”

Thank you, Kenya, for trusting Precision Leak Detection and for taking the time to leave such a detailed review.

The pool plumbing passed pressure testing… but the pool was still leaking. 💧

On this recent leak detection in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, we pressure tested the skimmer, main drain, wall vacuum, and pool return lines — and every line held pressure.

The actual leak was found underwater around the deep-end main drain sump, where fluorescent dye confirmed active water loss between the plastic drain housing and the surrounding pool structure.

That’s an important distinction: a leak at the main drain does not always mean the underground main-drain plumbing line is broken.

We put together a full case study showing:

how the leak was diagnosed
why the plumbing still passed pressure testing
how dye testing confirmed the actual leak
what the permanent repair would involve

Pool plumbing passed the pressure test… but the pool was still leaking. 💧

We recently completed a full swimming pool leak detection in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The skimmer, main drain, wall vacuum, and pool return plumbing were all pressure tested — and every line held pressure successfully.

So the underground plumbing wasn’t the problem.

During our scuba inspection, we removed the deep-end main drain cover and dye tested around the drain housing. Fluorescent dye confirmed significant active water loss where the plastic main-drain sump had separated from the surrounding concrete pool structure.

Previous underwater epoxy had already been installed around this area, but that repair had deteriorated and begun leaking again.

This is a great example of why a leak around a main drain does not automatically mean the main-drain plumbing line is broken.

Sometimes the plumbing is perfectly fine — and the leak is around the structure surrounding it.

Why does a raised spa drain every time the pool pump turns off? 💧

We recently investigated this exact problem at a home in Delray Beach, Florida.

At first, it looked like the spa itself might be leaking. But pressure testing showed that the pool and spa plumbing were holding pressure.

The actual diagnosis involved two separate problems:

✅ A failed check valve was allowing the raised spa to drain backward into the swimming pool.
✅ Fluorescent dye testing confirmed a separate active leak at the swimming pool skimmer throat.

This is a good example of why the most obvious symptom isn’t always the actual source of the water loss.

Why was this spa draining every time the pool pump shut off? 🔍💧

We recently completed a swimming pool leak detection in Delray Beach, Florida where the homeowner was concerned that settling near the raised spa and waterfall might be caused by a broken plumbing line.

After going through our complete leak-detection process, the pool and spa plumbing held pressure successfully, and we found no evidence that the spa plumbing or waterfall structure was causing the water loss.

Instead, we found two separate issues working together:

✅ An active leak in the swimming pool skimmer throat
✅ A failing spa check valve allowing water to backflow into the pool

When the pump shut off, water from the spa flowed backward into the pool. That raised the pool water level and allowed additional water to escape through the leaking skimmer throat.

Sometimes the area that looks the most suspicious isn’t actually where the leak is coming from.

If your swimming pool or spa is losing water, Precision Leak Detection can help you find the source and understand exactly what needs to be repaired.
