Followed some rules and broke some rules with this one for Tara Ryan. Pleated on an AB pattern (my fave!) but added a pleat to make that happen. Went wider with the outer panels to make the doors larger but put both sets of panels on 1 rod to reduce the depth. Having standards is so important but when it comes to custom being able to adjust them is just as important!

When a stand alone window is in a dining room, drapery panels can be as essential as the table and chairs! Here we have a French return rod mounted above half height which perfectly spaced pleats. I love how Smith & Ryan added a trim to the leading edges to add texture and a nod to the flowers in the wallpaper!

Lined sheers are a perfect choice for when you need a lot of fabric but you don’t want a room to feel heavy. The color of the lining can make a huge difference in the final look and we went through several bolts to get to this one which was just the right tone for the space. Now it’s hard to imagine the room without the window treatments!

This was quite literally a refresh by Ashton Whyte who brought hydrangeas into this room where it can always feel like spring. Classic is always in style!

Proportion is one of the most important facets of interior design and it carries over to window treatments as well. We spent some time debating if these windows should have 1 width or 1 1/2 width drapery panels, knowing scaling them back would save 1/3 fabric and labor but not wanting them to be skimpy. In the end, we decided to reduce the fullness but add a pleat. I think the proportion is just right for the window size and scale of the fabric, not to mention it fits our ideal ring spacing for stationary panels. Yet another reminder that we can never go on autopilot when making custom goods!

If you don’t do it frequently, closing a pillow with an invisible zipper can be a challenge. The zippers are placed tightly to help them disappear so a second set of hands can be helpful. We use this style in many of our pillows and sometimes I can’t even find the zipper when I’m looking for it! Tough to close but worth the effort 💪
