🔥🥩 1,530°F OF PURE STEAK-SEARING POWER! BUT IS IT WORTH IT? 🔥🥩

🚨 NEW VIDEO JUST DROPPED ON MrFlavorsmith! 🚨

Today, we’re turning up the HEAT! 🔥🔥🔥

I put the Big Horn Outdoors 16-inch Black Edition Sear Station and its matching propane grill cart through a serious backyard BBQ test, and let me tell you, this little beast gets HOT! 🥵

But I didn’t just fire it up and throw a couple of steaks on it. Oh no! We’re taking this test to another level! 😎

🌡️ 1,530°F! That’s the temperature I measured at the infrared burner!

🔥 Tested all 7 adjustable cooking heights at both HIGH and LOW settings!

🥩 Threw on two beautiful New York strip steaks to see just how well this machine develops that mouthwatering, steakhouse-quality crust!

🛒 Took a close look at the matching BIG HORN grill cart, complete with storage, prep space, and a dedicated spot for a 20-pound propane tank!

And of course, we’re talking about one of my favorite things in backyard cooking — the Maillard reaction! That beautiful, flavorful crust that takes a good steak to an entirely different level! 🤤

But here’s the million-dollar question…

🤔 IS THIS 1,500°F SEAR STATION ACTUALLY WORTH IT?

🔥 EGGTOBERFEST 2026 — WHAT AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! 🥚🔥

I traveled all the way from Southern California to Gwinnett Field in Georgia, for the 2026 Big Green Egg EGGtoberfest, and let me tell you, it was worth every mile!

Hundreds of Big Green Eggs, incredible barbecue, thousands of BBQ enthusiasts, and one of the most passionate communities I’ve ever experienced!

I had the opportunity to represent VGASS (Vertical Grill Accessory Storage System) alongside my VGrillers Podcast co-host, George, founder and CEO of VGASS, and his lovely wife, Nan. We had an amazing time working the booth, meeting people, talking barbecue, and introducing backyard cooking enthusiasts to VGASS.

But what really made this event special was the PEOPLE!

The Big Green Egg community is truly something else. These Eggheads are DIEHARD! Their passion for live-fire cooking, their craft, and the friendships they’ve built around barbecue is absolutely contagious.

A special shoutout to my buddy Craig “CMAC” McPherson!

Craig was the guy who told me I absolutely HAD to experience EGGtoberfest. After hearing him talk about it during his first appearance on the VGrillers Podcast, I knew I needed to make it happen.

Well, Craig, YOU WERE 100% RIGHT! 👊

Getting to connect with him in person was awesome, and having him return as our very first repeat guest for Episode 11 of the VGrillers Podcast was the perfect way to recap this unforgettable experience!

🎙️ EPISODE 11 — OUR EGGTOBERFEST RECAP IS HERE!

George, Craig, and I discuss:

🔥 Our first EGGtoberfest experience and the incredible turnout.

🥩 Hundreds of Big Green Eggs and amazing cooking teams.

🍖 Craig’s Team Green experience, including smoking 12 pork butts overnight!

💚 The friendships and passion behind the Egghead community.

🛠️ The overwhelming response to VGASS.

😂 Plenty of laughs, stories, and great barbecue conversations!

I’m already looking forward to EGGtoberfest 2027!

A huge thank-you to George and Nan for their wonderful hospitality, Craig for encouraging me to attend, and the entire Big Green Egg community for making me feel so welcome!

🎧 Catch Episode 11 of the VGrillers Podcast on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts!

👇 Were you at EGGtoberfest 2026? What’s your favorite Egg Fest? I’d love to hear about your experience!

Until next time, keep those fires burning, keep stacking those flavors, and as always…

❤️🔥 I sure hope my little barbecue buddy never grows out of this stage in his life! 🔥❤️

Every single time I’m cooking something in the kitchen, here comes Mini Flavorsmith dragging his step stool over so he can get right up to Daddy’s level. He’s gotta SEE everything, SMELL everything, ASK about everything, and, of course, be part of the cook!

And the backyard? Oh, it’s no different! 😂

Whether I’m firing up a grill, setting up equipment, or getting ready to produce another video for MrFlavorsmith, you can bet my little barbecue buddy is right there beside me, checking out what Daddy Barbecue is cooking up next!

And let me tell you something… this kid is one heck of a production assistant! 🎬🔥

The moment those cameras start rolling, he knows the drill! He gets quiet, watches everything, and patiently waits until Daddy says, “Okay, buddy, you can talk now!”

And BOY, does he have some things to say! 😂❤️

I absolutely LOVE having him by my side. These are the moments I hope never end, and the memories I’ll cherish forever.

🥩🔥 TODAY’S PRODUCTION: BIG HORN OUTDOORS!

Today, Mini Flavorsmith and I teamed up to produce another video featuring some fantastic backyard cooking equipment from Big Horn Outdoors!

This company continues to impress me with its wide range of thoughtfully designed, well-built outdoor cooking products at price points that are pretty darn hard to beat!

Their philosophy seems pretty straightforward: Give backyard cooking enthusiasts the equipment they need to get the job done, make it convenient to use, and keep it affordable!

And they’ve knocked it out of the park yet again! 💪🔥

For today’s cook, we fired up their 1,500°F infrared sear station, paired with their incredibly convenient mobile grill cart, complete with storage for a standard 20-pound propane tank.

This is actually the SECOND infrared sear station I’ve used from BIG HORN OUTDOORS, and I’ve really enjoyed what these units bring to the backyard!

🔥 LET’S TALK ABOUT BACKYARD MOBILITY!

One thing that’s incredibly important to me is having the freedom to move my cooking equipment around.

I don’t have a permanent, built-in outdoor kitchen, and quite frankly, I enjoy the flexibility!

My cooking area might stay relatively consistent, but the cookers? Those are ALWAYS changing!

Some days I want my equipment positioned right outside the sliding glass doors leading into the kitchen. Other days, I want to move everything closer to where the family is hanging out.

That’s one of the things I really appreciate about this grill cart and sear station combination!

Mobility, convenience, versatility, and performance! All without being locked into one permanent cooking configuration.

And BIG HORN OUTDOORS delivered yet again! 👊

🥩 AS FOR THOSE STEAKS…

Let’s just say that 1,500°F infrared heat did exactly what I wanted it to do! Beautiful searing, incredible color, and some absolutely delicious steaks!

The video is officially in the can, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

🍕🔥 AND WE’RE NOT DONE YET!

Next up, I’ll be putting that same mobile grill cart to work with BIG HORN OUTDOORS’ 12-inch pizza oven and gas burner attachment!

That’s right… PIZZA NIGHT is coming soon, and you better believe Mini Flavorsmith will be right there helping Daddy every step of the way! 🍕❤️

At the end of the day, I love creating content, testing equipment, cooking incredible food, and sharing my passion for backyard barbecue.

But getting to experience all of that through the eyes of my little boy?

That’s the kind of flavor you just can’t put a price on. ❤️

Here’s to good food, great equipment, family memories, and raising the next generation of backyard cooking enthusiasts!

🔥🥩 When MrsFlavorsmith Calls for BBQ… You Better Deliver! 🥩🔥

Well, MrsFlavorsmith informed me that her coworkers had been requesting some of MrFlavorsmith’s tasty backyard BBQ for their company potluck! 😎🍖

The request? TRI-TIP! 🥩🔥

And you know me… when it comes to feeding a crowd, we’re not cutting corners! We’re bringing the FLAVOR! 💪

But this time, I had a special little assistant joining me in the backyard… my four-year-old son, affectionately known as Mini Flavorsmith! 👨‍🍳❤️

And as you’ll see, he takes his role as my official backyard BBQ aroma inspector VERY seriously! 😂👍

Now, as with just about everything I cook, I approached these tri-tips using a technique I call FLAVOR STACKING!

The concept is simple: build layers of complementary flavors throughout the entire cooking process, starting on the inside and working your way out. Each step contributes something different to the final flavor profile.

🍋 FLAVOR STACKING — STEP 1: FLAVOR FROM THE INSIDE OUT!

I started by injecting the tri-tips throughout with freshly squeezed lime juice!

That citrus injection establishes our first layer of flavor, introducing a bright, tangy element inside the meat rather than relying entirely on surface seasoning.

🌶️ STEP 2: BUILD THE SEASONING LAYER!

I recently received three new rubs from RogueCookers.com — All-Purpose, Texas Brisket, and Doug’s Dust.

After giving them all a good smell test, I went with the Rogue Rubs Texas Brisket Rub!

Something about that savory aroma told me it would pair beautifully with the citrus from the lime injection.

But before committing, I needed a second opinion!

Enter Mini Flavorsmith! 👨‍🍳🥰

My little backyard BBQ partner gave the rub a good sniff, flashed me an enthusiastic THUMBS UP! 👍😎

That’s all the confirmation I needed!

A generous coating across the tri-tips established our second layer of flavor!

🔥 STEP 3: BRING ON THE SMOKE!

For our third layer of Flavor Stacking, we’re introducing that beautiful smoky flavor from burning lump charcoal!

I fired up my trusty Weber 22-inch kettle, setting it up for an indirect cook using Cowboy brand lump charcoal.

And Mini Flavorsmith was right there with me, eagerly helping throughout the backyard cooking process! ❤️

These are the moments I absolutely love — sharing my passion for backyard cooking with my little guy, watching his curiosity grow, and making memories around the grill! 👨‍👦🔥

This cook also gave me the opportunity to put several new pieces of equipment to work!

✅ Mallory Cookware Cast Iron Grill Grates — A fantastic cooking surface!

✅ Mallory Cookware Fire Wall System — Perfect for containing a generous load of lump charcoal while establishing an indirect cooking zone.

✅ AirChef BBQ Torch — This thing is an absolute BLAST! 🔥💥 A handheld flamethrower capable of producing temperatures exceeding 3,000°F! Lighting charcoal has never been so much fun!

✅ ThermoWorks RFX Wireless Temperature Probes — My first real opportunity to put this new system through its paces!

And let me tell you…

I WAS IMPRESSED! 🎯

With two wireless RFX probes monitoring the internal temperatures of the tri-tips and a wired ambient probe connected to my ThermoWorks Gateway monitoring the kettle’s cooking chamber, I could follow everything through the ThermoWorks app on my smartphone via my home Wi-Fi network.

📡 NOT ONE SINGLE CONNECTION DROP!

Seriously! The most stable wireless temperature probe system I’ve personally used to date!

And here’s where things got interesting…

Towards the end of the cook, I decided to hit those tri-tips with the AirChef torch for a little extra char — with the wireless probes still inserted! 🔥

They handled it beautifully!

I also gave each tri-tip a quick reverse sear directly over the hot lump charcoal, roughly a minute per side, making a couple of passes to develop that beautiful exterior crust.

Once they reached my desired internal temperature of approximately 137–142°F, I wrapped them in foil and refrigerated them overnight.

🥩 STEP 4: THE FINAL FLAVOR STACK — A SAVORY CITRUS BATH! 🍋🧈

The next morning, it was time to bring everything together!

I sliced those beautiful tri-tips nice and THIN and loaded them into the crockpot!

We already have the citrus injection, the savory seasoning, and the smoky charcoal flavor.

Now we’re bringing all those flavors together with a rich, buttery, savory citrus bath!

Here’s what went into the mixture:

🍖 Beef bouillon

🧄 Garlic powder

🌶️ More Rogue Rubs Texas Brisket Rub

🍋 A little Kinder’s Tequila Lime Rub

🧈 Approximately 4 tablespoons of real butter

💧 Roughly 4 cups of water

I heated that mixture to just below boiling, poured it over the thinly sliced tri-tip, and finished everything with the freshly squeezed juice of two large limes! 🍋🍋

And then came one of my FAVORITE moments of this entire cook! ❤️

THE MINI FLAVORSMITH SEAL OF APPROVAL! 👨‍🍳👍

As I finished preparing the crockpot, Mini Flavorsmith came over to investigate what Daddy had been cooking.

He leaned in, closed his eyes, and took one of those BIG, DEEP breaths through his nose, trying to capture every last bit of that incredible aroma! 🤤

Then he opened his eyes WIDE, raised those little eyebrows as high as they could go, tilted his head slightly downward while looking up at me, and with the most genuine expression of amazement said…

“THAT SMELLS AMAZING!” 🥹❤️🔥

I’m telling you, folks… you can’t manufacture moments like that!

No fancy restaurant review, no five-star rating, no professional food critic could have made me smile more than hearing those three words from my little boy!

THAT RIGHT THERE IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT! 👨‍👦❤️

And apparently, Mini Flavorsmith knows what he’s talking about! 😂

Because this entire cook was built around my philosophy of FLAVOR STACKING!

🍋 Layer 1: Fresh lime injection — citrus flavor from the inside out!

🌶️ Layer 2: Rogue Rubs Texas Brisket Rub — building that savory seasoning profile!

🔥 Layer 3: Cowboy lump charcoal — introducing that unmistakable backyard BBQ smokiness!

🧈 Layer 4: The buttery, savory citrus bath — bringing all those flavors together!

FOUR DISTINCT LAYERS OF FLAVOR! 💪🔥

Loaded everything up, and off to work it went with my beautiful wife, MrsFlavorsmith! ❤️

🏆 AND THE VERDICT?

Later that afternoon, I received a message from MrsFlavorsmith…

IT WAS A HUGE HIT!!! 🎉🔥🥩

Apparently, everyone went absolutely NUTS over the flavor and how delicious everything turned out!

And the ultimate compliment?

NOT A SINGLE LEFTOVER COMING HOME! 😂🙌

Now THAT’S what I call a successful BBQ potluck!

Between trying out the new ThermoWorks RFX system, putting the Malory equipment to work, having way too much fun with that AirChef torch, discovering how beautifully Rogue Cookers Texas Brisket Rub pairs with citrus, and having Mini Flavorsmith right there alongside me…

I’d call this cook a TOTAL SUCCESS! 💯🔥

But more importantly, this cook reinforces something I’ve believed for a long time.

Great BBQ isn’t just about what you put ON your meat. It’s about how you build flavor THROUGHOUT the entire cooking process!

That’s the philosophy behind my approach to FLAVOR STACKING, and it’s something I incorporate into just about everything I cook.

Every layer should have a purpose. Every ingredient should complement the next. And when you bring them all together, that’s when the magic happens! 🤤

But you know what makes it even better?

Having my four-year-old son right there beside me, learning, exploring, smelling, helping, and developing his own appreciation for great food!

Because at the end of the day, we’re not just cooking BBQ…

WE’RE MAKING MEMORIES, ONE FLAVOR AT A TIME! ❤️🔥👨‍👦

And judging by Mini Flavorsmith’s reaction AND MrsFlavorsmith’s coworkers…

I think we accomplished exactly that! 😎🥩
