We have some hungry little visitors at Five Oaks!

Did you know parsley isn’t just for the kitchen? It’s also a host plant for beautiful Black Swallowtail butterflies!

These colorful little caterpillars are happily munching away on our parsley, getting ready for the next stage of their life cycle.

Even in October, you can still spot these guys enjoying their favorite plants here in coastal North Carolina. As temperatures cool, some will spend the winter as chrysalises before emerging as butterflies in the spring! 🦋

Plant a little extra parsley - some for your kitchen and some for the butterflies!
