💛 Kelleigh is often the first person we see at methowvalleyfarmersmarket, with her welcoming smile and Kelleigh McMillan booth stocked with gorgeous veggies, flowers and beautiful jewelry (she made my favorite earrings!). We love Kelleigh!! (as does Harry!) And, as always, I’m incredibly grateful for her and all our valley farmers who put healthy, delicious food on our tables! 💛 Twisp, WA Winthrop Washington

Every August, when tomatoes are at their peak, I make Laurie Colwin’s Tomato Pie. It is pure comfort, just like her writing. Reading Home Cooking (a desert island pick for me) is like curling up on the couch with a dear friend. And baking this pie each summer evokes those same feelings. A biscuit crust (with Bluebird Grain Farms | Emmer Farro • Einkorn • Sonora • Rye Sonora flour), juicy tomatoes, basil and some fresh corn (an addition I learned from Gourmet) create a heavenly taste of summer! ❤️

☀️ More tomato love!! Tis the (hot, smoky) season for making chilled Sun Gold tomato soup. So refreshing and restorative…if only I’d made a double batch! ☀️ Winthrop Washington

✨ Last week we visited friends over on San Juan Island and guess what I got to do? Alpaca Pilates!! The alpacas’ sweet fuzzy faces hovered overhead, watching me move while chomping on grain, and I couldn’t stop smiling. Pure joy! ✨ The Farm at Krystal Acres

🫐 Blueberries! Not only are they my favorite food, but I recently learned my favorite childhood book, Blueberries for Sal, is a cookbook now (thank you Jenny Taylor!!). So of course I’ll be making everything possible in this sweet little book asap, starting with blueberry jam. Good thing I just picked up the best blueberries EVER from the Twisp Grange!! 🫐 Winthrop Washington Twisp, WA

🥜 I’m in a cookbook club and we’re reading/cooking from Deep Run Roots (an absolute gem!), a Southern memoir filled with recipes I’m dying to try! The peanut chapter caught my attention and reminded me peanuts are a legume. Why not cook them like beans? Luckily there’s a peanut stew recipe. And boiled peanuts? Something I’ve heard of but haven’t tried. I’ll be grabbing a bag of raw peanuts and giving these both a try and report back 😋 Winthrop Washington Tennessee Peanut Co. Vivian Howard
