A Legacy of Love: In Honor of Our Father- “Fat Cat”

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” — Proverbs 20:7

There are dates that mark us forever. February 19th is now one of those sacred days — a day of remembrance, reflection, and reverence. Today we honor my father, lovingly known as “Fat Cat.” A name filled with warmth, personality, and presence. Though grief may sit heavy, so does gratitude. Because when a father lives with integrity, strength, laughter, and love, his legacy does not end — it multiplies through those he leaves behind.

Grief is not weakness; it is evidence of deep love. When someone like my father touches lives, teaches lessons, and leaves fingerprints on hearts, their absence is felt profoundly. Yet scripture reminds us that the blessing of a righteous man continues through his children. That means every time you walk boldly, love fiercely, forgive quickly, or lead with courage, you are carrying his legacy forward. His story continues through his children.

To celebrate his life is to choose to live well. It is to pursue purpose with intention. It is to laugh loudly, protect your peace, cherish family, and walk in faith. When we honor those we’ve lost by becoming stronger, wiser, and more compassionate, grief transforms into growth. My father’s life mattered — and the best way to honor him is to live fully, not timidly.

So today, while tears may fall, I let joy also rise. I let memories be medicine. I let lessons be anchors. I let love be louder than loss. “Fat Cat” may no longer be physically present, but his influence, values, and spirit echo through generations. And that is a legacy death cannot erase.

Amen!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

This 2am to 430am wake-up time like a new born baby is not cool! I'm in bed by 9pm. Why do I need to wake up five hours later? Why? It's even worse when you have to wake up to p*e. Give me my full eight hours back!!! ⌚️

My Daddy
Father’s Day 2025, the first one without my "FatCat" was hard for me. The card aisle that once brought smiles now brings tears. There’s an emptiness that words can’t fully capture, and yet there’s a quiet gratitude that remains—for the man who shaped my life in ways big and small. Today, instead of a phone call or a hug, I find myself holding memories like sacred treasures, each one a testament to his love and presence.

Grief has a way of revealing the depth of love. As I sit with the ache of his absence, I remember his laughter, his advice, his steady hand on my shoulder. I also recall the lessons he lived more than taught—lessons about integrity, kindness, and faith. Though I can no longer hear his voice, I see his reflection in my choices, my values, and even my prayers.

God, in His mercy, doesn’t leave us comfortless. In the silence, I sense the whisper of His Spirit reminding me that the love of a father—even when lost on earth—is never lost in eternity. My daddy may be gone, but the legacy he left is a bridge that leads me back to hope. And more than that, I rest in the truth that our Heavenly Father never leaves, never changes, and never dies.

So today, I choose remembrance over despair, and thankfulness over sorrow. I celebrate the gift of my father’s life and the God who gave him to me. In missing him, I honor him. And in honoring him, I draw closer to the One who promises to wipe every tear and reunite every heart that trusts in Him.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
—Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of my daddy "FatCat" and for the love that shaped my life. Today, as I grieve his absence, draw near to my heart with Your comfort and peace. Help me to cherish the memories, live the lessons, and trust in Your eternal promises. May Your presence be my refuge and Your love my strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
