Escape from Meriden… what an adventure. Easily the most ridiculous event I’ve ever done.

The concept: start in Meriden at midnight and see how far away you can get in 36 hours, heading in any direction you like.

After a lot of wandering, questionable navigation decisions and very little sleep, I somehow made it 175.9km all the way to Stonehenge.

Massive shoutout to Joe - his first ultra and he smashed out 75km 💪🏻

Some highlights:
• Footpaths that definitely existed only on the map
• 3 hours running down the same dead-straight cycle path in the dark
• Being stopped by a police officer at 2am and asked, “What are you doing?”
• Sleep deprivation: hallucinating a man running alongside me, losing the ability to read a map, and becoming convinced the trees were talking to me
• Seeing a hedgehog and a snake
• Accidentally ending up on top of a hill for the summer solstice sunrise
• Setting a 10-minute alarm so I could risk sitting down with my eyes closed
• Stepping in a puddle and shouting “ARE YOU SERIOUS?” at it
• The boy coming to rescue me at Stonehenge 🫶

An absolutely brilliant, bizarre and slightly stupid way to spend a weekend.
