After a few years of the hustle and bustle of the business world, one looks at life differently and notices there is so much more than expected. So, I ended up making things that make me happy. I started with lotion. I always enjoyed being able to make things on my own, especially healthy and less expensive items. With the help of my hubby, I made an olive oil lotion and then moved on from there. Things started to intrigue me…like Shea Butter, natural oils like Sunflower seed oil, Grape seed Oil, Agave, Soy Oil and of course Olive Oil. I started with these and whipped up some lotions, body lotion bars, soaps, scrubs, and on...
This led me to wanting to make something new daily. Now, this sounds like perfection…that was the least! I had and still have many flops and no go’s. It’s a matter of creativity mixed with natural products that cannot be beat by anything man made. Even among my flops, I still cannot resist the natural beauty. I am true lover of all natural, earthy, God-given ingredients. Blessed am I to work with these and indulge in the luxury they bring to my skin. That’s why I decided to offer this to others. It’s one of those things that is too good to keep just myself. I’ve noticed less dry skin, healthier and less wrinkly areas and overall a better texture to my skin. Like I said…too good to keep all my own. I live in a beautiful state, West Virginia. Tucked between a few rolling hills, a field, and a pond in my front yard. Nothing is more beautiful than waking up to see what God has everyday outside of my window. Sometimes this is a mini horse, other days just a brown mutt dog. The quiet of this farm area is priceless. Luckily, I can grow items in the summer to help with my ingredients and get as close to purely natural as possible. My ingredients typically include: My favorite: Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Hemp Seed, Olive Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Sun Flower Seed Oil, Aloe, Palm Oil, Vitamin E, Bees Wax, Sugars, Sea Salts, Exfoliates, Honey, Milks, Almond & Vanillas, Herbs like Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, Bay Leaves, etc… I could go on for a while… a lot involved in each product I make. To me it is much more than whipping together a lotion or bath bar. To me, Barnyard Couture with Cynthia’s Cents is about allowing myself to do something I love and help others in the process. I love to hear the stories from my clients- both new and returning. They love the feeling from the bath bars. They love the soft, yet indulgent fragrances. And most of all, they love the opportunity to have beautiful products at an affordable price. Every item I make is unique. There is not one product the same in the sense of looks. They all are hand poured and decorated individually. I use natural and vintage décor for every item. There is nothing that leaves my work without offering beauty from the eyes in. I follow a quote that: the holy spirit will speak through me so your ideas become my ideas... this gives me inspiration to make beautiful products for already beautiful people…
This is not all I make. I make wreaths of all kinds, candles, picture frames, décor, and soon coming clothing. I am a lover of vintage work. I appreciate what was “once” and make it “once again”. Let’s call that quote mine…
