What does home mean to you?

UTTE invites artists of all ages to interpret the theme of home, belonging and possibility through an original A5 artwork for A Night of 1000 Homes, a collective exhibition celebrating creativity and the power of community.

Donated artworks will be offered for sale, with proceeds supporting UTTE initiatives that create opportunities for children through education, art, sport, safe spaces and more.

Every artwork tells a story. Every contribution helps create possibilities for the next generation.

🖌️ Your canvas. Your interpretation. A shared purpose.

Housing, public open space and local infrastructure as the catalysts for urban transformation

As part of Design Week South Africa , UTTE will be joining the UNBUILT Exhibition, where we’ll be showing our Empower Imizamo Yethu Masterplan - a vision for community-led urban transformation in IY, bringing together affordable housing, public space, social infrastructure and opportunities for local economic development.

We will be presenting the masterplan and sharing some ideas behind the project, alongside other exciting architects, designers and urban practitioners exploring new possibilities for the future of our cities.

A big thanks to Young Urbanists South Africa dhk Architects, NowNow Design Competition and Mission for Inner City Cape Town for putting it all together

Join us for the opening later today, Friday 23 October, at 17:30 at the new short.MARKET in Cape Town!

A centre designed to do more.

The Soweto-Caracas Centre places community, economic opportunity and long-term sustainability at the heart of the development.

From shared spaces, childcare and digital access to rooftop urban farming and solar energy, the facility is designed to support everyday needs while creating opportunities for ongoing income generation.

By integrating social infrastructure with sustainable economic activity, the centre supports a community-led approach to the long-term maintenance and vitality of the development.

It is a foundation for dignity, belonging, and opportunity. It is where communities grow, relationships are strengthened, and futures begin to take shape.

At UTTE, we believe that creating better living environments means more than building structures. It means working alongside communities to create spaces where people can thrive.

Because everyone deserves more than a house. Everyone deserves a place to call home.
