Outdoor living by OKHA, Cape Town.​

How a home meets its landscape is part of its character. For OKHA Creative Director Adam Court, furniture and architecture are conceived together as a continuous living environment, shaped by the setting and the way people live.​

This is the thinking behind OKHA’s approach to outdoor design: a single design vision, from the sculptural presence of an individual piece to the composition of the entire space.

The choreography of light and movement

In a new project by OKHA Interiors, sliding timber screens transform a sculpted marble bar into a versatile social space, introducing an element of theatre to the interior.

The substantial volume and mass of marble contrast with the warmth and levity of timber. As the screens move and their vertical slats overlap, glimpses of warm light flicker through the shifting gaps. Transparency gives way to concealment, creating a magical play of light, shadow and rhythm that changes the character of the room.

Beyond their sculptural presence, the screens reveal a hybrid functionality, allowing the space to transition between a fully functional kitchen, a minimalist bar and a setting for social gatherings.

A beautifully considered interplay of material, proportion and movement, where craftsmanship and versatility become part of the experience of the interior.
