Not our regular work but whenever we make furniture we always enjoy the process; metal sprayed framework with 32mm and 44mm Iroko hardwood tops.

A 3mm shadow-line routed detail separates the wooden tops from the metal framework.

In the event of the floors being uneven we added sunken adjustable feet to the bottom of each metal fabrication for any necessary leveling.

The table tops had 5 coats of N10 invisible sealer, giving a totally natural organic appearance (but at the same time being sealed)

All delivered and waiting for the clients to arrive. Happy days 😊

We installed this deck earlier on in the year but after the sun naturally aged the deck the client actually preferred the colour and look of the deck when it was originally installed, so we happily obliged.

Sand & Seal; sand, oxalic acid, wash, 1 primer coat and 4 top coats of acrylic sealer.

Here we have a deck that was built approximately 18 /20 years ago, this portion of the deck was not covered by the above roof, thus decayed much faster than the rest as exposed to the elements.

Although we could see the original deck was built very well the rotted deck boards are of an older size, 21 x 94mm which would not line up with the now standardized 19x90mm; here the best option is to lay a breaker board that runs perpendicular and just start again.

Feels like a good fit!

Here we installed a treated Pine covered roof area and balustrade; the 76 x 76mm posts come out of the ground, firstly supporting the Garapa hardwood deck and before extending up to form the support structure for the balustrade and then continue vertically to support the roof structure.
As there is no unsightly gutter the roof extends to allow the rainwater to fall directly into the garden below, without continually dripping on the deck and balustrade handrails.

To blend the treated green Pine and Garapa hardwood deck together we applied a Teak colour tint to the acrylic primer and then applied 4 coats of clear acrylic sealer.

Again the vision and design adapt during the installation process to make the best flow for the area and budget.

What an installation this was as well as wonderful clients; a complete transformation with lots of hurdles, angles, and a healthy dose of manipulation to consider, ensuring our design allowed everything to flow as much as possible.
When designing a deck with lots going on, the thought process and our mantra is always, 'If we do this, what happens here?' It's critically important to visualize the installation design flow right to the end. The integrated gate here acts in three different directions.

We think it turned out rather well!

We loved everything about this installation; the wonderful clients who gave complete trust in our suggestions / design and the implementation thereof; we used smaller timber dimensions on the structural pergola as we want to keep the look quite minimal and not overly heavy.

The privacy screen horizontal braces will come off once the wood has cured, (1 season) which will leave uninterrupted vertical slats.

The client requested the bench seat arm rests to be oversized so they could be used as a mini side table, which works really well, and removable duck boards on the tiled surface.
