Have you recently seen & smelled the beautiful flowers of Chinese Jasmine and absolutely fallen in love? 🥰🌸 Here's your chance to get your hands on one & bring that gorgeous fragrance home!

October is the perfect time to celebrate the fragrant garden, and Chinese Jasmine has put on quite a show!

Masses of deep pink buds open into delicate, star-shaped white flowers, creating a beautiful contrast - and their sweet, heady fragrance can fill an entire garden space. It's a springtime favourite that delights the senses and makes stepping outside feel extra special! 🌿🤍

This fast-growing evergreen climber thrives in a sunny to partly shaded position & performs best in well-draining soil enriched with compost. It enjoys morning sun and can handle full sun in cooler conditions, while a little afternoon protection can help in hotter spots.

Jasminum polyanthum is wonderfully versatile in the garden. Train it over pergolas, arches, trellises and fences, use it to soften boundary walls, or let it climb through structures to create natural screening. It also grows beautifully in large pots on patios, balconies and entertainment spaces - perfect for bringing that beautiful fragrance closer to where you relax and entertain! 🌸☀️

This is a plant for anyone who loves a garden that appeals to the senses. Busy gardeners, beginner gardeners & anyone wanting quick results with relatively little effort will enjoy its vigorous growth and rewarding seasonal display.

Chinese Jasmine can also bring life to Cape Town gardens by attracting pollinators like bees & other beneficial insects when in flower, helping support a healthy & active garden ecosystem. 🐝🌿

🌱 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀:

🌞 Plant in fertile, well-draining soil in a sunny to partly shaded spot.
🌿 Mulch with bark to retain moisture and help suppress weeds.
💧 Water regularly while establishing, especially as the weather warms up.
🌸 Feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
✂️ Lightly prune after flowering to keep plants tidy and encourage healthy growth for the next season.

A fragrant favourite that brings beauty, vigorous growth & seasonal interest to the garden year after year. And with those gorgeous blooms in flower now, there's no better time to fall in love with Chinese Jasmine!

🌸 Congratulations to our George branch on their Garden Day SA win!

We'd like to share a little about the thinking behind the outstanding display the George team built:

They took their lead directly from this year's Garden Day poster. The warm palette of
🧡❤️💛 oranges, reds and yellows in the flower crown and nasturtiums guided their plant selection, and they framed each poster with trailing greenery and blooms so it feels as if the poster's garden is spilling out into theirs.

The team wanted the display to feel proudly 🇿🇦 South African, so they built it around indigenous showstoppers in season right now: clivias in shades of orange, apricot and yellow, and pincushions (Leucospermum) in coral, orange and soft pink. These sit alongside marigolds to carry the poster's colours through the whole space.

The poster's basket of fresh vegetables 🥦🍅🥬🫑 inspired the raised veggie planter box filled with a variety of veg & herb 6-pakcs and marigolds as companion plants, with a grapevine, figs and a topiary planter next to it.

The message is simple: plant now, and you'll be harvesting your own basket by summer.

🌷🌿 Garden Day is about celebrating your garden with the people you love, so they also included a wooden bench and colourful garden pod chairs to invite customers to sit, linger and take photos. They whole team got into the spirit too, wearing flower crowns while helping customers, and a social media check-in board encourages visitors to share their own Garden Day moments.

The display was a real team effort, and the staff have loved bringing the Garden Day spirit to life in George. 💚

We’ve shared some photos of the lovely display in the comments below 👇🏼 - take a look!
