For the w**e farm guest cottages, we introduced a window that wraps around the front corner — bringing more light, views and connection to the landscape.

Slatted timber screens provide security while filtering the daylight to create a soothing experience for the guests.

Behind them, sash-style sliding windows allow the cottages to open fully to the outdoors.

Designing for the way a place feels.

Every element has a purpose.

Deep timber box frames sit around the screens, giving depth to the façades and creating a strong architectural language where there was none.

This design concept, for guest cottages in the rugged and awe inspiring beauty of the Swartland, is rooted in place with materiality, texture and filtered light taking the lead.
