What happens when colour meets history?

In Stanford, Western Cape, an old Cape Dutch house has been given a new expression in Arniston White 225.
The approach isn't about making the building feel new.
It's about allowing a contemporary colour choice to sit comfortably within the character, proportions and history of the existing architecture.

What is changing, is our idea of what a neutral can be.
From warm stone or soft clay to caramel, sand or weathered brown, today’s neutrals are less about making a room disappear and more about giving it warmth, depth and atmosphere through texture and finish.

The muted earth and mineral shades of the Karoo.
The bright, joyful tones of West Coast fynbos.
The ever-changing blues of the St Francis canals.
The deeper, more expressive hues found in the streets of Pretoria.

We don't design with colour in isolation. We take cues from what surrounds us - the landscape, the light, the materials, the architecture and the stories of a place.

So perhaps the better question isn't what colour is trending, but rather what colours belong in this space?
