Yesterday during Design Week, our team visited the CRÉMA showroom for a talk and showcase titled “Intentional Spaces: Exploring Hominess and Belonging in Design,” presented in collaboration with Muuto
The session offered a captivating dive into neuro-aesthetics and the power of designing with intention, focusing on how spatial balance, natural textures, intuitive flow, emotional color palettes, and layered lighting directly shape our sense of comfort and belonging. A big thank you to Crema, Muuto & Design Week for an inspiring conversation on crafting spaces that truly feel like home!

On the note of collaboration, we had so much fun teaming up with Paintsmiths during Open Studios for an interactive creative exercise. Inspired by our collaborative showcase, everyone who walked through our doors was invited to pick a paint swatch of their choice and sketch whatever came to mind. We were completely blown away by the energy, talent, and stunning sketches created throughout the evening.

We are currently sifting through all the entries and will be revealing three shortlisted sketches on our Instagram stories next week. From there, it will be in your hands: the public will get to vote for their favourite in an interactive poll, and the creator of the winning sketch will take home a wonderful gift hamper courtesy of Paintsmiths!

The beauty of a collaboration lies in the intersection of vision and craft. Our recent work with Ashanti Design features the Handwoven Kiboko lights, brought to life in a custom palette of sun-drenched oranges, forest greens, and warm yellows. 🌅

What makes these pieces truly special is the making process. While the color palette remains consistent, weavers use their own creative judgment for every stitch. The result? No two lights are exactly the same. 🧵

A day with the talented team at Silhouette Furniture in Durban, seeing the ins and outs of their incredible tactile craft, from raw materials to beautifully finished chairs. It’s inspiring to connect with local makers who pour such skill and intention into every detail. Collaborations like this deepen our own process at Mobius and remind us why craft matters.
