Zambian workers at Munali Nickel Mine have been locked out of the gate by their Chinese boses for demanding their delayed pays. They were terminated and promised pays and later termination letters. This is precisely how our fellow Zambians are treated in work places by the boses.
When i say we must return to the Matero Declarations of 1969 and find new modalities to rebuild and reform the mining sector so it benefits our country, i am often attacked by the very Zambians exploited by these systems and whose eyes i have been trying to politically open. There is no investor who will come into our country and develop it, theirs is profits and profits alone.
That's why they don't care that our highways like is the Kasempa - Kaoma Road is damaged. That's why they don't care that the Sesheke - Livingstone Road is damaged despite these roads seeing copper worth billions in USDs pass through them each year. They don't care about that. We must understand as Zambians that God will not bless us over and over and over again as through we are his only children and put minerals in our soils again. He has other nations still awaiting his mineral blessings. Its actually being politically selfish of us to always go before God and ask him to bless our country and then when he blesses us, we sell those blessings and give 100% mine ownership of our mineral mines to the Chinese and Canadians.
God blessed the arabs once with oil and they used those resources to rebuild their lands into first world cities. On the other hand, we have given full ownership of our minerals into the hands of external forces and sat back, expecting those external forces from China and Canada to develop our country. There is nothing special about us that God must keep blessing us as though we are his own children. God already blessed us once, its our duty now as Zambians to finally open our eyes and see where we have been blind and put political mechanisms to safeguard our country !!!
