🌮 LET’S BRING A LITTLE FIESTA TO THE BBQ! 🇲🇽🔥

We’re back for another episode of Dave’s Rub Reviews, and this time we’re turning up the flavour with Lane’s BBQ Fiesta Rub!

Something a little different from your traditional BBQ seasonings, Fiesta brings a Mexican-inspired twist to the table. And sometimes, that’s exactly what your BBQ needs!

One thing I love about exploring different rubs is discovering just how much variety is out there. BBQ doesn’t always have to be salt, pepper and garlic!

And this one certainly caught my attention.

🔥 DAVE’S RUB REVIEWS — EPISODE 3! 🔥

🧄 GARLIC LOVERS… THIS ONE MIGHT BE RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY! 🧄🔥

We’re back for another episode of Dave’s Rub Reviews, and this time I’m putting Tuffy Stone’s “The Big Umami” All Purpose Mix to the test!

Coming from a six-time World BBQ Champion, I was pretty keen to see what this rub had to offer!

Built around the classic salt, pepper and garlic combination, this one definitely has a personality of its own.

🧄 And that personality? GARLIC! LOTS OF IT!

The garlic flavour really takes centre stage. If you’re someone who loves a big garlic hit in your BBQ, this could be an absolute winner for you.

For me, though? It’s a solid all-purpose seasoning. Nothing particularly mind-blowing, but certainly not a bad rub either.

🏆 THE DMBBQ VERDICT: 7/10!

A respectable score for a decent rub, especially if you’re a garlic fanatic!

🔥 I TURNED AN AUSSIE AB INTO LOW & SLOW BBQ!

If you’re from South Australia, you know exactly what an AB is! 😎

A mountain of hot chips, loaded with meat and absolutely smothered in sauce. It’s an Aussie takeaway classic, and I thought… why not give it the DMBBQ treatment? 🔥

So I fired up the smoker and got to work!

🥩 Lamb shanks — smoked low and slow until beautifully tender and falling off the bone.

🍗 Chicken thighs — seasoned, smoked and packed with flavour.

🍟 Golden crispy chips — because every great AB needs a solid foundation!

Then came the best part… piling that smokey lamb and chicken over the chips, loading it up with garlic aioli, BBQ sauce and sweet chilli, and finishing with a sprinkle of fresh spring onions.

The result?

🔥 THE DMBBQ SMOKEY LAMB & CHICKEN COMBINATION AB! 🤤🔥

Messy? Absolutely.

Over the top? Probably.

Worth every single bite? You better believe it!

Taking a South Australian takeaway favourite and giving it a little Texas BBQ treatment. That’s the sort of cooking I love!

Whether you’re firing up the smoker, throwing something on the grill or just looking to take your everyday cooking up a notch, a good all-purpose rub is worth its weight in gold.

And this one? Well, it certainly impressed me!

For Episode 1 of Dave’s Rub Reviews, I’m putting Barbecue Mafia’s “Fuhgettaboutit” SPG Rub to the test.

SPG might sound simple, but it’s one of the most important flavour combinations in BBQ. Brisket, steak, ribs, chicken, veggies — get your salt, pepper and garlic right and you’ve already got a bloody good head start.

Texas BBQ… with a proper Aussie twist. 🇦🇺🔥

Low and slow beef brisket, but this time I’ve brought a little Aussie taste to the pit — Vegemite brisket.

That rich, savoury Vegemite flavour works its way into the beef, building on the smoke, bark and rendered fat without taking away from what makes a great Texas-style brisket so bloody good.

Texas technique. Aussie flavour. And plenty of smoke.

This is the kind of BBQ I love playing around with — taking the classics and giving them a distinctly Australian spin. 🇦🇺🤠🔥
