Nurseryland Garden Centre for Sale

Have you shopped at Dig and thought what a great business… well we are seeking our successors!

It has been 15 seasons of running the garden centre, 18 years since we cleared the land and built the building for manufacturing & distribution of ‘Rainforest Sprinklers’ which was bought 24 years ago, and 13 years of being the Canadian distributor of ‘Azomite Minerals’, along with Marks new renovation project we will be vacation renting this summer you can search on Facebook ‘Christina Lake Renovation Project’.

Kids are raised and moved out so we are ready to semi-retire and explore empty nesting!

This business has proved to be rooted in community. Our customers have provided us with the opportunity to be self employed and now employ around 21 seasonal staff. We provide a much needed service of beautiful life giving plants and everything that supports them (including some giftware that makes us happy as well)

We have worked hard to train our staff with almost every aspect of the business so we can be owners instead of operators. Plant knowledge is not a necessity of purchasing our business, but business knowledge is, along with the drive, determination and ability to work hard while functioning under stressful situations. A garden centre will do 40% of its business in 1 month.

We have a store manager with 13 years experience, production manager of 6 greenhouses growing and maintaining organic veg and annuals, inventory controller, along with a well versed team of long term knowledgeable horticulturalists, stock receivers, and cashiers with fluid young yard workers.

Most of our ordering is finalized for Spring so if you are interested in this industry and have the means to finance this business and inventory requirements, then a spring takeover for our re-open date in February is ideal for training purposes and a transition of vendors for terms.

We are selling the corporation and everything you see at the store is included. 5000sqft metal building with 3000 sqft loft (*did I mention we raised our 3 kids living in the loft accommodation we created upstairs for 11 years) 4 onsite Greenhouses, discuss option of 2 offsite greenhouses, fixtures, bobcat, forklift, computers.

The recent land/building assessment from Keystone Appraisals is over 1.5 million on a perfectly situated 1 acre, highway access, UNZONED prime piece of land. Add a profitable business and you can’t go wrong with the price we are asking!

So much talk about digging and storing dahlia tubers and did you dig up your lily yet? It’s a similar task. Dig up the clump, wash off all the soil, sharp cut leaving about an inch of the stem and the roots intact, you can find the eyes which are really easy to identify and cut sharply so each stem has at least 1-2 eyes ( you don’t have to cut them, but keep in mind they become very large and harder to manage the larger the clump ). Let sit overnight or 2 nights in a protected area to dry, trim the roots if you like, store in vermiculite in a paper bag, then place in a tub in cold storage until Spring!
