Cooler weather is coming. 🍁🍂💨🍂
Before you put your hoses away and turn off your outdoor water service, give
your newly planted trees and shrubs another watering 🚿
Evergreens need extra water at this time of year so they aren’t dried out and brown in the spring 🚿🚿🚿

It is a beautiful autumn day perfect for top dressing your perennial and shrub beds with barkchip compost 🍂🍁
Our greenhouse is closed for the season
Our gate to the bark chip pile is open till 5:00 today

Cover your favourite plants or move them to a heated building.
They may be frozen black tomorrow
Sad to lose them when they still look great
Remember to cover your pumpkins 🎃 also

Cannas short or tall are all looking great this year.
They thrive in the heat as long as they receive plenty of water
It is ok to let the cannas get a light nip of frost before you cut them back,
remove the wet soil from the canna rhizomes,
then store them where they won’t freeze till spring
You can store them in a their planter of soil if you let them dry out before putting them away
We are now closed for fall cleanup. 🍂🍁

Small selection of house plants, shrubs and trees

Barkchip compost is a great top dress for your flower and shrub beds
Avoid covering the crowns, stems or trunks of your plants
This could cause bark or tissue rot due to lack of air
NO VOLCANOES 🌋 around your trees 🌳
Barkchip compost cools hot summer temperatures & warms freezing winter temperatures
W**d suppression and less moisture loss is a bonus
Eventually the chips will decay and improve the tilth of your soil
Our pile will be open this Saturday 12:00-5:00
The chips are free but we must share.

We are open today 12:00-5:00
We still have a few Pinky Winky & Moon Rock hydrangeas
and ninebark and junipers and ….. stop in and check out our selection
We have a large pile of bark chips
When hydrangeas turn brown prematurely it is because they dried out too much on those very hot days.
We all try to keep up with the watering but it happens sometimes.
Bark chip mulch helps hold the moisture and keeps the soil cooler
