A new pool liner can make an old pool feel new again.

Over time, even a well-maintained swimming pool can begin to show its age. Colours fade, patterns become dated, and the liner itself may start showing signs of wear.

But that doesn't necessarily mean you need a new swimming pool.

Replacing an aging vinyl liner can dramatically refresh the appearance of your existing pool, giving the water a different colour and the entire backyard a renewed look.

It's also an opportunity to address liner-related concerns before another swimming season begins.

At Pristine Pools, we help homeowners throughout Guelph and Centre Wellington explore vinyl liner replacement options for their existing inground pools.

If your pool liner is starting to show its age, now is a good time to start thinking about next spring.

How deep does your backyard pool really need to be?

It's one of those decisions that deserves more thought than you might expect.

A deeper pool might sound appealing, but if most of your time will be spent relaxing, cooling off or enjoying the water with family, a shallower design may offer more usable space.

On the other hand, homeowners who enjoy swimming and specific water activities may have different priorities.

There's no single depth that's right for every backyard. What matters is designing a pool around how you actually plan to use it, while considering safety, available space and the type of pool being installed.

At Pristine Pools, we help homeowners throughout Guelph and Centre Wellington explore their options for fiberglass and vinyl liner swimming pools.

Thinking about a new pool for 2027? Let's talk about what would work best for your backyard.

Was your pool equipment giving you trouble this summer?

A pump that became noticeably louder. A heater that took longer to warm the water. A filtration system that struggled to keep your pool clear.

These are the kinds of problems that are easy to put off during swimming season and just as easy to forget once the pool is closed.

But fall is a great time to address those lingering issues so they don't become unexpected headaches when it's time to open your pool next spring.

At Pristine Pools, we help homeowners throughout Guelph and Centre Wellington with swimming pool repairs, servicing and equipment replacements.

If something wasn't working quite right this summer, now is a good time to get ahead of it.

Fiberglass or vinyl liner? What's the difference?

If you're thinking about installing an inground pool, this is one of the first decisions worth understanding.

**Fiberglass pools** arrive as pre-manufactured shells, offering a smooth, nonporous surface, relatively low maintenance and a range of established shapes and sizes.

**Vinyl liner pools** are built using a structural wall system and fitted with a replaceable liner. They offer greater flexibility in pool dimensions and configurations, along with a wide selection of liner patterns and finishes.

Both can make beautiful additions to your backyard. The right choice depends on your property, budget, design preferences and long-term maintenance expectations.

Pristine Pools installs both fiberglass and vinyl liner swimming pools throughout Guelph and Centre Wellington.

Considering a new pool for 2027? We can help you explore which option makes the most sense for your backyard.

Your pool is closed for the season. Now what?

Once the cover is on and everything is winterized, it's tempting to forget about the pool until spring.

But a little attention throughout the colder months can go a long way.

After heavy rain or strong winds, take a quick look at your pool cover. Check for unusual sagging, accumulated debris or anything that appears loose or out of place.

As the weather gets colder, keep an eye on conditions around the pool and avoid walking on the cover, even if it's a professionally installed safety cover.

A properly winterized pool shouldn't require constant attention, but occasional visual checks can help you spot potential problems before they become bigger ones.

**A little peace of mind now makes the wait until spring that much easier.**

You might be surprised by what's possible.

Not every inground pool needs an enormous backyard. Sometimes, a smaller pool with the right placement can create a better outdoor space than a larger pool squeezed into the wrong location.

The key is understanding how everything works together. Your available space, property access, setbacks, existing landscaping and how much room you want left for a patio or lawn all play a role.

And that's why we always encourage homeowners to start the conversation before ruling out their backyard.
Pristine Pools is currently planning and quoting 2027 pool installations throughout Guelph and Wellington County.

It's not the freezing water in your pool that should worry you. It's the water you can't see.

As Southern Ontario heads toward colder weather, one of the biggest risks to an improperly winterized pool is water left inside plumbing lines and equipment.

When trapped water freezes, it expands. That pressure can damage pipes, fittings and other vulnerable components, potentially leaving homeowners with expensive repairs when spring arrives.

That's why a proper pool closing involves much more than putting on a cover.

Pristine Pools provides professional pool closing and winterization services throughout Guelph and Wellington County.

Thanksgiving weekend is a reminder of what makes a backyard special.

It's not always about having the biggest space or the fanciest landscaping. It's about having somewhere you actually want to spend time with family and friends.

Maybe this summer you hosted a few backyard barbecues. Maybe you spent more time at someone else's pool than your own backyard. Or maybe you've been looking out at that empty space thinking about what it could become.

A new pool can change how you use your backyard, not just how it looks.

Pristine Pools is currently discussing 2027 pool installations with homeowners throughout Guelph and Wellington County.

If a pool is part of your plans for next summer, we'd love to hear what you have in mind.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend!

Your pool may look quiet in October. The water isn't.

As temperatures fall and swimming slows down, it's easy to assume the pool no longer needs much attention.

But until it's properly winterized, the water is still circulating, debris is still finding its way in, and the chemistry still matters.

One of the biggest mistakes pool owners can make this time of year is mentally "closing" the pool before it's actually closed.

Keep it clean. Keep the water balanced. Keep circulation going as required. Then, when closing day arrives, you're winterizing a pool that's already in good condition rather than trying to correct problems at the last minute.

A good spring opening starts before the cover ever goes on.
