Windswept Indoor Oasis

Kristi’s Oasis Desk: Here Comes November!
Tomorrow is Halloween, which means around here I apparently get approximately 12 minutes before switching from pumpkins and ghosts to CHRISTMAS. 😂
October brought fall planters, cyclamen, our ghostly air plant friends, events and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes holiday prep.
November is when things really start happening.
🎄 Holiday plants will begin arriving
🌵 Holiday cactus
🌺 Poinsettias
🌿 Christmas air plants
🪴 Holiday planters
🎁 Gifts & stocking stuffers
…and probably a few surprises because apparently I don't know how to stop. 😂
The nursery may be tucked in for the winter, but the Indoor Oasis is just getting started.

One Season Out, Another One In!

🍂 This Week at Windswept: One Season Out, Another One In! October is wrapping up, the gardens are almost tucked in, and we're making that familiar Windswept shift from one season straight into another. Around here, there isn't much of an “in between.” 😂 🍂 In the Garden — Wednesday brings our final Wednesday in the Garden — Fall Edition…...

🌿 Kristi’s Oasis Desk: The Waiting Game
There is a very strange point in every season when I go from:
“Did I order enough?”
to...
“WHERE am I going to put all of this?” 😂
We have officially reached that point.
Most of our holiday orders are placed, so now I'm tracking confirmations, watching arrival dates, clearing space and getting the Oasis ready for its first real holiday plant season. 🎄🌿
And apparently I now have assistance.
I’m not entirely sure what he’s doing up there, but I believe he is summoning the printer gods to produce the rest of my order confirmations. 😂🐈‍⬛🖨️
And yes — I said holiday PLANTS. 🎄🌿
This year we're going beyond our regular houseplants with seasonal favorites and some things that are just plain fun.
The Oasis may be little, but apparently I have decided that doesn't mean I should order like it's little. 🤷‍♀️
Stay tuned. Things are about to get festive!
Provided, of course, that the printer gods cooperate. 😂

🌿 Wednesday, October 21 — Let's Talk About the Pot 🪴
Sometimes the problem isn't your plant… it's what your plant is living in.
That adorable pot matters more than you might think!
When choosing a pot, think about:
🪴 Size — going WAY bigger isn't necessarily better.
💧 Drainage — where is that extra water going?
🌿 Soil — different plants don't all want the same mix.
👀 Roots — being able to see what's happening below the soil can tell you a lot.
And here's your permission slip: you don't have to repot a plant just because you bought it.
If it's happy, sometimes the best thing you can do is leave it alone. 😂
Need a pot, soil or help figuring out whether it's actually time to repot? Bring your questions to the Oasis!

Putting Fall to Bed & Planning for Spring

🌿 This Week at Windswept: Putting Fall to Bed & Planning for Spring The leaves are falling, the temperatures are dropping, and we're slowly putting another Maine growing season to bed. But around Windswept, “slowing down” apparently means finding completely different things to do. 😂 💧 In the Garden — Don't put that hose away quite yet! This Wednesday we're talking about one last important fall job, especially for all those newly planted perennials, trees and shrubs....

Kristi’s Oasis Desk: Goodbye Ordering, Hello Holiday Prep

The ordering is pretty much DONE… so now my desk has turned into a planting bench! 😂🌿
We’re in that funny little in-between season at the Indoor Oasis — still enjoying all things fall and Halloween while quietly getting ready for what comes next.
These little pumpkin planters are part of what we’ve been growing right here for fall. 🎃 They’re filled with a fun mix of plants, and honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of the job — taking plants we already have and turning them into something completely different.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, I’m clearing space, growing on our holiday planters and getting ready for all the holiday plants that will start making their way into the Oasis.
For now though… we are NOT rushing the pumpkins out the door. 😂🎃
Come enjoy fall with us!
