As many families begin assessing electrical damage from the recent winter storm, we want to share an important reminder from a local Nashville company that truly loves this city and our neighbors.

We are seeing some repair quotes in a range for work that, in many cases, should cost significantly less depending on scope and materials.

Storm damage is stressful, and urgency can make it easy to accept the first estimate you receive. We strongly encourage homeowners to:
• Ask for itemized quotes
• Confirm whether permits are required (and included)
• Get at least one second opinion from a licensed, local electrician

❄️ Power outages mean generators — but using them safely matters.

From an electrical standpoint, here are a few things we want our community to know before firing one up:

⚡ Generators should be at least 20 feet from your home, doors, windows, and vents
⚡ Exhaust should always point away from the house
⚡ Never backfeed a panel without a transfer switch or interlock
⚡ Turning the main breaker off helps — but it’s not enough by itself
⚡ Carbon monoxide alarms should be working on every level of your home

If you’re unsure whether your setup is safe, ask before guessing.
Staying warm is important — staying alive is more important.
