Hello to all the new faces around here 🤍 I like to reintroduce myself every once in a while, so HELLO.

I’m Claudia Leonard Smith, founder of Claudia Leonard Interiors ; designer, business owner, chronic over-thinker of panel mouldings and door casings, and believer that everything looks better with more coffee table books.

Fun fact: I actually majored in Finance & Accounting. Somewhere early along the way, I traded spreadsheets for swatches and decided to pursue the career I’d wanted my entire life.

I grew up watching my parents renovate and build a home, so design was always part of my world. After college, I worked for some pretty incredible design firms in NYC while earning my design certifications, learning the business, and eventually deciding it was time to open my own doors 6 year ago. Design became my entire world.

My style is timeless, collected, clean but charming. A little modern, a little traditional, colorful when it calls for it, quiet when it doesn’t. No project is ever the same.

Today, Claudia Leonard Interiors takes on full-service projects throughout Charleston, the Tri-State area, and occasionally wherever the wind (or a very good client) blows me.

I love people. I love business. I LOVE design. And I’m wildly passionate about this industry and, perhaps most of all, the relationships that make it all work. My clients tend to become family, my work tends to consume my brain 24/7, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

And when I’m not working, you’ll probably find me running along the Lowcountry marshes, working out outside, spending time with my family, or finding literally any excuse to hop on a plane to NYC. It’s home, it’s where my roots are, and luckily, I can usually find a client meeting to justify the trip.

So, if you’re new here, welcome! 🤍 Stick around for sneak peeks of our projects, the behind-the-scenes chaos, the business of design, and probably an unnecessary amount of tile layouts.

- Claudia 🤍

One of my favorite spaces, the scullery. Limestone floors from France ( automatically CHIC) , with one of my favorite soft greens from Farrow & Ball , and the softness of the soapstone make this vignette so balanced.

Throwing it back to our funky dining room for the most fun clients. A room to celebrate all holidays, feel at peace, and always have something fun and exciting for the eyes to explore. The richness of the floors with the dark burl-woods in the furniture, offset the high gloss blue and of course a super special Mural by Rebecca Atwood whose versatile designs we love so much.

What a beauty! Our seabrook project sits so beautifully on the ocean. Influences from Virginia and Charleston shaped this beach home to be cozy, timeless, and happy.

The custom x railings were definitely one of our favorite elements we were able to accomplish!

Welcome to the arched bar room. Flowy proportions in the architecture and mixtures of beachy and traditional textures make this space feel timeless and cozy, yet practical. ❤️

What a week it has been! Thank you for the team at Christopher Farr Cloth for inviting us us on this once in a lifetime experience, and for Coleman & Rose for making it happen. The team at Christopher Farr Cloth is so special, and really gave us a week full of history, architecture, learning about how the products are curated and produced, and most importantly, new relationships that will last a lifetime. The friendships and bonds I have made over this week have made me realize why I am a designer, and thank you to Christopher Farr Cloth for bringing us all together in this special way. I am going home with my head spinning with ideas, appreciation for the craft, obsessed with London, and my heart so so full. I don’t even have room to post all of the amazing things we did but here are just a few !

1.) outside Buckingham palace- we had a special private tour that is very much not common, I was moved to tears the entire time. Could feel queen Elizabeth around me walking around ! We weren’t allowed to take pictures inside, but it was a highlight of the trip.

2.) group shot outside the back of Buckingham

3.) inside Spencer House

4.) Layton Campbell and I somewhere in Chelsea 🤣

5.) lunch at Oswald’s private club - lunch with Jane Churchill.

6.) dinner at Christopher Farr Cloth creative leader house with London designers.

7.) new friends at the print house!!!

8.) making block prints at the print house with real Christopher Farr Cloth patterns

9.) petersham nurseries

10.) lunch at petersham

11- 12.) ham house gardens

13.) group shot at the print house

14.) and her team showing us the new collection coming out in January

15.) me and Layton Campbell at the home of Handpainted lampshades

16.) party at Handpainted lampshades house

17.) lunch and house tour with the amazing ( hi Georgie I’m obsessed with you!! )

18.) bathroom at The Twenty Two

19.) just a London shot

20.) lunch with Kit Kemp Design Studio at Ham Yard Hotel with Londons best designers!

Think this is one of my favorite bathrooms of all time. The true tomboy in me obviously gravitates to the darker tones, while the feminine side of me loves the contrast, the warm brass, and how it all comes together.

I love how this bathroom feel luxurious but still really grounded and earthy.

The custom mosaic floor from Zia Tile was such a fun moment, and of course we had to do soapstone on the counter deck and backsplash to bring in that beautiful, earthy texture.
