Hubba hubba!

We got a lot of new blooms popping off all over the joint. Cooler temperatures are spiking a lot of plants.

Check out emeraldcityorchids.com

We just updated some new terrarium classes by Mizu Mori.

We also fixed our tickets glitch for the Halloween Party next weekend. If you were trying unsuccessfully to get those, all apologies. It's working now. $15 - food/bev, entertainment, and a costume contest (wear a costume or you'll feel underdressed).

This party kicks off a HUUUGE sales event with guest vendors Ecuagenera (Ecuador), Kanjarin Greens (Thailand), and four local favorites that rarely appear in the public sphere: Orchids By The Lake, AGE Tropicals, Mizu Mori, and Standard Orchid.

The sales event is FREE to attend Sat/Sun (Oct 31/Nov01) and open to the public, but if you want the first pick from the amazing plants these folks are bringing, that party is your chance.

Did you ever have to make up your mind?

These plants all come from the same parents!

They are siblings, alike in some obvious ways, but clearly unique among themselves. Sometimes, a hybrid will have very consistent results and sometimes the genetics go crazy

We love this cross because they all come out wildly different from each other. White, yellow, orange, red, pink, & purple with some kind of spotting.

A bunch are spiking right now.
Come check them out!

The seasons are turning.

We can feel it here. Summer is winding down. Some late summer bloomers are catching up, while winter bloomers are gearing up new growth in anticipation for the cooler nights they love.

The humans here are busy too.

Classes are this weekend!
Spaces are starting to fill, but we still have plenty of room. Sign up on our website.

Ecuagenera is coming!
Official announcement later today, but that will be 10/31 - 11/01 (FREE) with our annual costume preview night party 10/30 ($15). Preview party tickets also available at emeraldcityorchids.com

New plants!
We are still beefing up our inventory for winter with loads of material coming up from our production house. We're squeezing a lot of plants in here, which means we might have a few things on clearance in the garage if you visit soon.

What better way to charge into Autumn than this orange beauty?

Gaze into the throat and it seems to go forever because of the deepness of the pronounced spur on the back of the flower. If the namesake color doesn't make you fall in love, the plant itself is intriguing. The cane is hairy, with a brownish downy fuzz over bright green tissue. When you're done gawking, smell it. The fragrance is a siren's song of aromatic lust, tapping a sensory nerve you might not have known you have, sweet, but seasoned with some unknown spice from a far away place.

This flower is dangerously seductive.

Debdrobium ochraceum

You might be little, but you can do big things.
😍

Dendrobium fuscifaucium

Sometimes we got it dialed in and sometimes we're just giving it our best guess.

This whole genus seems to bloom on an 18 month schedule for us. Not sure why. These last bloomed in the Spring of '25 and if we're placing bets, put our chips on early 2028.

But that's just our best guess.

Isochilus major

We are OPEN today!

And stuff is on sale!

Our garage has a lot of plants, decent little units, for $5, $10, and $15, orchids and other tropicals. We'll do discounts on other plants as well, especially if you're nice and buying more than one item.

Staff has the day off.

Joe is at the helm today, and he doesn't normally like sales and discounts. Makes him twitch and mumble. He's actin' crazy and might make some crazy deals.
